Yucca Studios: An Acton Academy is an innovative second through ninth-grade school that launched in Midland, TX, in 2019 as a part of a global movement intent on re-imagining contemporary education.

Why Yucca Studios?
1. Young people choose challenging work at their own pace. This means young people take ownership of their learning in a self-paced learning environment that is designed to foster responsibility, goal-setting, and teamwork.
2. Collaboration on real-world problems and projects, whether it’s creating an exhibition of learning, cooking a meal, or coding robots.
3. We utilize intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to take on challenges, chart our progress, and relish in sweet success.

7. No teaching! Our guides support learners on their journey though giving choices, thoughtful questions, and creative gamemaking
8. Mastery-based learning, where there are no grades. Instead, learners set mileposts and goals with their families and celebrate their discoveries and success at public exhibitions that they plan and execute.
9. Mixed age groupings that allow for peer-to-peer guidance and leadership. Because there is nothing more powerful than teaching what you know.

Our Learner-Driven community puts young people at the center of their learning, allowing them to create and maintain personal goals and community contracts as they Learn to Learn, Learn to Do, and Learn to Be.
Self-management and self-governance are celebrated daily by a tightly-bound community of learners who use 21st Century skills to tackle projects inspired by heroes hailing from near and far.
